I had the same thought. A digg style functionality would be ideal.

I believe that there are Twitter API limitations that complicate, but how about aggregating the packs, so that one "follow" gets you the entire pack?

Anyone else think a Twitter Pack by School would be a good idea?

I like school. I also like political candidates.

While I appreciate having the opportunity to add myself to multiple, appropriate categories on the Wiki, I also think this is not necessarily the best way to find cool people on Twitter, or at least, not the only way. It may be a starting point for some people who don't know anyone else on Twitter, but they need to understand that it is most interesting if you add people you don't know, in different categories, and have two-way conversations with them. I found my first Twitter friends by adding people who were friends of a few people I did know, and then I watched @replies to see who else looked interesting, and I just experimented. I then found Terraminds and Tweetscan, but I don't even use them that much—I mostly add people based on conversations I have or see other people replying to. I hope people will only use this wiki as a sort of "Twellow Pages," as social media expert Connie Reece coined it. I do want to say thank you and appreciate the person(s) who started and are managing the wiki, because it is a lot of work for the benefit of the Twitter community.:-)

I would have to agree with the astute observations of Cathryn Hrudicka.

I think Cathryn Hrudicka it's right about the different "methods" to find the people "you want to find" on Twitter, one interesting it's based on the use of Twitter Search (http://search.twitter.com), and another it's to find for tags, I don't know why the people on Twitter doesn't use more tags, you know #tag

How do you use the "Auto Pack" for specific categories? The link on this page just does if for only one page and has no search function. Any ideas?

I've been using Twitter Packs for about a year and I think it's a great resource. However, as the number of listings and categories expands, I wonder if it really makes sense keeping it on a wiki.
Here's what I envision: A database system of some sort, in which anyone can register and add their Twitter URL, their name/company, and a description. Then they can check the boxes next to the categories and/or geographic locations they wanted to be listed. (There would also be some sort of interface to allow for creating new categories.) The database would automatically generate those category pages (one page per category -- no more of these gigantic pages) and list the person's information in the places they chose. Result: People only have to add/update things in one place, things are easily sortable and searchable, single-category pages increase search rankings, and no one has to bother entering a scrap of HTML since the database would format the pieces of information automatically.
I know a couple of different open-source database systems that could probably work, and I'd be willing to help work on it to make it happen. What do folks think?

Rootwork.org:
I think you're talking about some kind of Twitter directories, you can find some out there:
http://justtweetit.com
http://www.twellow.com
http://twittgroups.com/index.php
Of course there's a lot more.
Best wishes, as always,

Hi Federico,
I guess those are closer to what I'm thinking, though it seemed like only Twellow was really what I meant -- a place where you can set up a profile for yourself and list yourself in multiple categories, without having to edit each of those pages separately.
That said, Twellow's interface sucks. I think there's really a niche here that TwitterPacks could fill, if they went more the directory route and had an easier-to-use interface.
In any case, I can't really see the advantage to keeping TwitterPacks on a wiki with ever-growing pages that are more often than not filled with broken code. Twellow, while hard to use, at least gives some reasonable return for that difficulty; TwitterPacks is hard for a non-techie to edit or maintain and doesn't really justify that difficulty, in my opinion.
Wikis are great, but I don't think that a wiki is the best answer for this use case...

Hello "Rootwork":
Sorry for the delay to answer, for some reason I can't receive notifications for the posts here, anyway...
100% agree about Twellow interface, looks like something from internet early, early days.
About TwitterPacks, I'm agree too, right now it's almost impossible to read the e-mail alerts with the news, too much garbage, but I think that's because the people are using wikis as the old "e-mail groups", not as a collaborative tool.
Best wishes, as always,
Federico

Has anyone had an issue with twitter using twitterpacks? Like, ever since I set up twitterpacks, I can not follow anyone on twitter! Is it possible that this system sets up too many followers and twitter suspends your right to follow?
Pls respond to drnick3954@aol.com
